About SUMIKA

Sumika Polymer Compounds (Europe) was founded in November 2007. The consortium shareholding consists of Sumitomo Chemical Group (55.1%), Itochu Corporation (19.9%) and Toyo Ink (25%).

The Sumitomo Chemical Group was founded in 1913 and is the second largest petrochemical company in Japan with assets in 2007 of some $18 billion and over 30,000 employees. The group includes some 100 companies operating around the world in six business sectors: basic chemicals, petrochemicals and plastics, fine chemicals, IT-related chemicals, agricultural chemicals, and pharmaceuticals.

Our Shareholders have brought a new focus to the already successful and established businesses, providing the necessary backing to ensure growth and representation within Europe.

Manufacturing

With 2 manufacturing sites in Europe, a new compounding plant in Chennai, India and our localised R&D and Technical Centres SUMIKA offers high value and innovative products and close support to our customers in Europe.

As part of a global network with SUMIKA sister companies in the USA, Saudi Arabia, Thailand, China and Japan we are in a strong position to offer global support and supply to our  customers world wide.
